Transportation

transportationGetting from place to place is something we need to think about everyday. There are so many options available and it’s important to make choices that are good for you and good for the environment too. While owning our own cars is a convenient way to get around, there are other kinds of transportation that are easy on you and easy on the environment as well. By education ourselves on the bus, bike and train routes, and car sharing options in our Region, we can reduce the kilometres we travel in our personal vehicles. This will reduce the impact our fossil fuel use has on our environment.

Driving Less

We have to do our part to reduce air pollution in Waterloo Region's and mitigate global warming. By reducing fossil fuel emissions from our vehicles we are making a conscious effort to preserve the environment for future generation. We have to practice alternative ways of getting from place to place that put fewer emissions into the air. We have to keep track of how much fossil fuel we are using for personal transportation and aim to reduce it. Keeping track of the kilometres we drive each day and week will give us a starting point and we can work from there to make more sustainable choices.

Transportation Advocacy

Becoming aware of how air pollution is affecting the health of the earth and the health of those around us is an important first step in changing our transportation habits. We have to promote the idea sustainable travel to those around us. We should work towards spreading awareness about the ways we are making changes to our lifestyles so that more people can become involved in sustainable transportation choices. Educating ourselves and then spreading the word can make a huge difference. In Waterloo Region there are lots of alternative transportation methods - people just need to get to know them better.
